TAMINICK MILITARY WEEKEND 2004

Taminick is an annual event which takes place about an hour north of Melbourne. This event started several years ago and covers 3 weekends in a row with each weekend a different subject/theme. The last weekend is the 'Military Encampment' which has now grown to several hundred participants from different groups/clubs who re-enact periods from 15th century,
English Civil war right through to Napoleonic and Early Australian Colonial troops -
as long as it is 'black powder'.

We participate with different clubs that we associate with. In 2004 we took part in the 'The Blue and Grey' American Civil War encampment portraying civilian support roles. The club won that year's 'Best Historical Encampment' award for their portrayals as Sutlers, Travelling Photographer, La Grange men's club, Haberdashery, Postal and telegraphic service.
